JHILIMILI P.S.: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Located in the rural heartland of Odisha, JHILIMILI P.S. is a government-run primary school offering education from Class 1 to Class 7. Established in 1965, the school provides a co-educational environment for young learners, with a focus on Odia as the primary language of instruction.

The school, housed in a government building, boasts two classrooms equipped with essential facilities. While it currently lacks computer-aided learning and electricity, it boasts a library with over 130 books, ensuring access to knowledge for students. The school also provides access to clean drinking water through hand pumps, and boasts ramps for disabled students, showcasing its commitment to inclusivity.

The school’s teaching staff comprises two male teachers, who are dedicated to providing quality education. JHILIMILI P.S. offers meals prepared within the school premises, ensuring that students have access to a nutritious diet. The school also has a designated playground, although it is currently not operational.

While the school does not offer pre-primary education and is not a residential school, it does offer a robust academic program. Notably, the school is affiliated with the “Others” board for Class 10th. This indicates that the school follows a curriculum different from the standard CBSE or ICSE boards.

The lack of a boundary wall might pose a challenge for the school, but the presence of a library and drinking water facilities underscores the school’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment. The presence of ramps further highlights the school’s dedication to accessibility for all students.

Despite lacking electricity and computer-aided learning, JHILIMILI P.S. remains a crucial educational institution in the rural community. Its dedicated teachers, commitment to providing meals, and the presence of a library demonstrate the school’s dedication to nurturing young minds. As the school continues to serve its community, it is crucial to address the need for electricity and explore the possibilities of incorporating technology into the curriculum, thereby enhancing the learning experience for its students.
