CHIKALMARI PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

CHIKALMARI PS, a government-run primary school located in Odisha, is a testament to the dedication towards educating children in rural areas. Established in 1990, the school offers primary education from Class 1 to Class 7, ensuring that children in the surrounding village have access to essential learning.

The school boasts a library with a collection of 17 books, providing students with a valuable resource for expanding their knowledge. While the school does not have a playground or a computer-aided learning program, it prioritizes the well-being of its students with two classrooms, a boys’ toilet, and a girls’ toilet. The school also provides a meal for its students, prepared and served on-site.

CHIKALMARI PS serves as a co-educational institution, welcoming both boys and girls. Two teachers, one male and one female, are dedicated to providing quality education to the students. They use Odia as the primary language of instruction, catering to the local linguistic context.

The school’s management falls under the Department of Education, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting education in rural areas. Despite the challenges faced by rural schools, CHIKALMARI PS strives to offer a solid foundation in education for its students.

The school’s location in a rural area indicates that it serves a community with limited access to educational resources. The lack of electricity and a boundary wall poses logistical challenges, but the school’s commitment to providing basic amenities like toilets and drinking water demonstrates its dedication to creating a comfortable and conducive learning environment.

While the school does not have a pre-primary section or offer classes beyond the 7th grade, it plays a crucial role in laying the foundation for the future of its students. The lack of ramps for disabled individuals is a point that requires attention, as the school could benefit from making its facilities more accessible for students with diverse needs.

CHIKALMARI PS stands as a beacon of hope in rural Odisha, empowering children with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. Although facing certain challenges, the school’s dedication to providing education in a resource-limited setting is commendable.
