SALEBHATA H.S.: A Rural Upper Primary and Secondary School in Odisha

SALEBHATA H.S. is a private, co-educational upper primary and secondary school located in the rural area of Odisha. Established in 1989, the school offers classes from 8th to 10th, adhering to the State Board curriculum for class 10th. While the school boasts a library with 162 books and a playground for recreation, it lacks essential amenities like computer-aided learning, electricity, and a boundary wall.

The school caters to a diverse student population, with a total of 8 teachers dedicated to their education. The teaching staff comprises 6 male and 2 female teachers, all committed to providing quality education in the Odia language. Despite being an upper primary and secondary school, SALEBHATA H.S. does not offer pre-primary education and does not provide meals to its students.

The school lacks ramps for disabled students, highlighting a need for accessibility improvements. The absence of a boundary wall raises concerns regarding security and safety. Although the school operates without electricity, it does have hand pumps for providing drinking water to students and staff.

SALEBHATA H.S., being an unrecognised school, faces challenges in securing adequate funding and resources. The lack of access to computer-aided learning and other modern technologies further limits the students’ learning opportunities.

Despite these challenges, the dedicated teachers at SALEBHATA H.S. strive to provide a quality education to the students in their community. The school’s commitment to providing a co-educational environment and fostering a love for learning through its library and playground are commendable.

The school’s reliance on hand pumps for drinking water raises concerns about the availability of clean water, especially during the dry season. The absence of a boundary wall also presents safety concerns for both students and staff.

Despite the challenges, SALEBHATA H.S. provides valuable educational opportunities for students in the rural area. Improving facilities and accessing resources will further enhance the school’s capacity to cater to the needs of its students and empower them to reach their full potential.
