KOILISUTA P.S.: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

KOILISUTA P.S., a government-run primary school located in Odisha, serves the educational needs of children in the rural area. Established in 1973, the school offers instruction in Odia and caters to students from Class 1 to Class 5. Its co-educational environment provides a space for boys and girls to learn together.

The school building, though government-owned, lacks some modern amenities. While it does have one classroom and separate toilets for boys and girls, it currently lacks electricity and computer-aided learning facilities. The playground is also absent, meaning students lack a dedicated space for physical activity.

Despite these limitations, the school offers a number of positive features. It boasts a library with a collection of 110 books, providing students with access to learning resources. The school also provides drinking water through hand pumps and has ramps for disabled students, ensuring inclusivity.

In terms of teaching staff, KOILISUTA P.S. employs two teachers, one male and one female, ensuring a diverse learning environment. Meals are provided and prepared on the school premises, contributing to the well-being of the students.

The school falls under the management of the Department of Education and is categorized as a “Primary only” school, focusing solely on the foundational years of education. The school’s academic content emphasizes a strong emphasis on the Odia language, reflecting the local cultural context.

Although the school does not offer pre-primary education, it provides a valuable educational resource for the rural community. The presence of a library, drinking water facilities, and ramps for disabled students highlights the school’s commitment to providing a supportive learning environment.

Furthermore, the school’s commitment to providing meals on-site showcases a holistic approach to student development, ensuring their basic needs are met alongside their educational pursuits.

KOILISUTA P.S. serves as a testament to the importance of education in rural communities. While it faces challenges with infrastructure and resource availability, the school strives to provide quality education to its students, fostering their academic growth and contributing to the development of the community.
