KANDHAL PS: A Rural School Offering Primary and Upper Primary Education in Odisha

KANDHAL PS is a government-run primary and upper primary school located in the village of KANDHAL, Odisha. With a history dating back to 1957, the school provides education for students from Class 1 to Class 8. Despite its rural location, the school boasts several features that make it a valuable educational resource for the community.

The school building houses two classrooms and is equipped with basic amenities like separate toilets for boys and girls. Though it does not have electricity or a boundary wall, it maintains a library with a collection of 447 books. This resource allows students to access additional reading material and expand their knowledge beyond the classroom.

While the school does not offer computer-aided learning or a playground, it provides drinking water through hand pumps and is accessible to students with disabilities thanks to ramps.

KANDHAL PS offers instruction in Odia, with two male teachers catering to the needs of the students. Interestingly, despite being a primary and upper primary school, it also provides meals for students, prepared and served within the school premises.

This co-educational school is managed by the Department of Education and serves a primarily rural population. Notably, KANDHAL PS has not been shifted to a new location, indicating its commitment to serving the local community.

While the school does not have a pre-primary section, its curriculum is designed to cater to students up to Class 8. The school follows the “Others” board for classes 10 and 10+2, which suggests it might be affiliated with a local or regional educational board.

Although the school does not provide accommodation for students, its commitment to providing a quality education through well-equipped classrooms, a library, and accessible facilities is evident. KANDHAL PS stands as a testament to the government’s efforts to ensure basic education reaches even the most remote corners of Odisha.

The school’s focus on providing a complete educational experience with meals and accessible facilities makes it a valuable resource for the local community. KANDHAL PS exemplifies the dedication of educators to empower students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to their overall development.
