KALIKA NARAYANI UPS: A Rural Upper Primary School in Odisha

KALIKA NARAYANI UPS is a government-run upper primary school located in a rural area in Odisha, India. The school, established in 1989, offers education for students in classes 6 to 7, catering to the needs of the local community.

The school boasts a male teaching staff of two, who provide instruction in Odia. While it’s noteworthy that the school offers a co-educational environment, it lacks several essential facilities. The school has only two classrooms, which is likely a challenge for the teaching staff in accommodating all students.

Despite the limited resources, the school provides meals to its students, although these are prepared outside the school premises.

One of the most significant shortcomings is the lack of essential infrastructure. The school lacks a boundary wall, a library, a playground, and a reliable source of drinking water. Furthermore, there are no ramps for students with disabilities, making it inaccessible for those with mobility limitations.

The absence of a library deprives students of the opportunity to explore a world of knowledge beyond their textbooks. The lack of a playground hinders physical activity and development, which is crucial for a well-rounded education.

The school’s limited resources highlight the need for investment in infrastructure development to create a more conducive learning environment for the students. The absence of basic facilities like a boundary wall, library, playground, and drinking water raises concerns about the safety, well-being, and educational development of the students.

The lack of ramps for disabled students is a serious concern, making the school inaccessible to individuals with mobility limitations. It is important to ensure that all students have equal access to education, and this can only be achieved through inclusive infrastructure and resources.

While the dedication of the teaching staff is commendable, the school’s limitations pose challenges to providing quality education. The government and community stakeholders must work together to address these challenges and improve the learning environment for the students of KALIKA NARAYANI UPS.
