Benusahi P.S: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Nestled in the village of Benusahi, located in the district of Cuttack, Odisha, Benusahi P.S. stands as a testament to the importance of primary education in rural India. This government-run primary school, established in 1975, serves the local community by providing basic education to children from Class 1 to Class 5.

The school boasts two classrooms, one for boys and one for girls, along with separate toilets for each gender. While electricity is not yet available at the school, the students benefit from a library stocked with 270 books. Unfortunately, a playground and drinking water facilities are absent. Despite these limitations, Benusahi P.S. strives to provide a quality educational experience to its students.

The school follows the Odia language as the medium of instruction. Two teachers, one male and one female, are responsible for imparting knowledge to the students. The school is classified as co-educational, meaning it welcomes both boys and girls.

Benusahi P.S. is a non-residential school and does not offer pre-primary education. The school prepares students for the “Others” board examination for Class 10. Interestingly, the school also provides meals to its students, which are prepared on school premises.

Located in a rural setting, Benusahi P.S. has not been shifted to a new location since its establishment. While the school does not have ramps for disabled students, it demonstrates a dedication to providing basic educational opportunities to the children of the village.

The school’s physical infrastructure might be limited, but the commitment of its teachers and the presence of a library highlight the importance of education in the community. Benusahi P.S. serves as a vital resource for the development of the younger generation in this rural part of Odisha, fostering a love for learning and preparing them for their future.

Despite the lack of electricity and playgrounds, Benusahi P.S. stands as a beacon of hope for the children of Benusahi village. With the dedicated efforts of the teachers and the support of the local community, the school continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of these young learners.
