BEHERAGUDA NPS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

BEHERAGUDA NPS is a government-run primary school located in the rural area of Odisha. Established in 2008, the school offers education from Class 1 to Class 5, catering to a co-educational student body. It is situated in a village, with a unique feature – hedges forming the school walls.

The school has a total of 2 classrooms and provides basic facilities for its students, including a library and separate toilets for boys and girls. The library, though modest, boasts a collection of 250 books, providing valuable resources for learning.

The school relies on hand pumps for drinking water, highlighting the need for improved infrastructure in this rural setting. While there is no computer-aided learning facility or playground, the school makes up for it with a focus on traditional learning.

Academically, BEHERAGUDA NPS offers instruction exclusively in Odia. It has two dedicated teachers – one male and one female – ensuring a student-teacher ratio conducive to effective learning.

The school’s management falls under the Department of Education, adhering to the curriculum prescribed for primary schools in Odisha. Interestingly, the school caters to students pursuing various boards for their higher education, including “Others”, which likely encompasses regional or private boards.

The school also offers meals to its students, prepared within the school premises, highlighting its commitment to student welfare. Although there are no pre-primary sections, the school’s commitment to providing basic education in a rural setting makes it an important resource for the community.

The absence of ramps for disabled students, electricity, and a playground underscores the need for further development and infrastructure improvement to enhance accessibility and provide a more enriching learning environment for the students.

Despite its limitations, BEHERAGUDA NPS plays a vital role in providing quality education to children in a rural setting. The dedicated teachers and the school’s focus on delivering a basic education make it a valuable asset for the community.

With further investment and improvements, BEHERAGUDA NPS has the potential to become an even more robust educational institution, nurturing young minds and contributing to the development of the region.
