TUMBEI SEVASHRAM: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Located in the heart of a rural community, TUMBEI SEVASHRAM is a government-run primary school catering to students from Class 1 to Class 5. Established in 1955, this co-educational institution plays a vital role in providing education to the children of the village.

The school’s infrastructure boasts five classrooms, a library stocked with 269 books, and separate toilets for boys and girls. While lacking electricity and a playground, the school features a pucca wall for safety and accessibility ramps for disabled students. The absence of a water facility underscores the need for improvements to ensure the well-being of the students.

TUMBEI SEVASHRAM operates under the management of the Tribal/Social Welfare Department and has a dedicated teaching staff of two male teachers. Instruction is delivered in Odia, ensuring that the students receive quality education in their native language.

The school’s dedication to its students extends beyond academic instruction. TUMBEI SEVASHRAM provides meals prepared on-site, addressing the nutritional needs of the children. This proactive approach fosters a nurturing environment, encouraging learning and growth.

The absence of a pre-primary section and the school’s “Others” designation for both Class 10 and Class 10+2 boards highlight the potential need for future expansions. This could involve integrating pre-primary education and aligning with recognized national boards to offer a wider range of academic options.

Despite the challenges faced by TUMBEI SEVASHRAM, its commitment to providing quality education to the children of the village is commendable. With its dedicated teachers, supportive infrastructure, and focus on student well-being, the school strives to empower future generations and foster a brighter future for the community.
