THENGJANG PS (NEW): A Rural Primary School in Manipur

Nestled in the rural heart of Manipur, THENGJANG PS (NEW) stands as a beacon of education for young learners. This primary school, established in 2012, falls under the management of the Department of Education. Serving students from Classes 1 to 5, THENGJANG PS (NEW) provides a co-educational environment with an attached pre-primary section.

The school’s infrastructure, though modest, is designed to facilitate learning. It boasts a government-owned building with two classrooms, all in good condition. These classrooms are supplemented by two additional rooms for non-teaching activities, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students.

However, the school faces a number of challenges. While it does provide drinking water from a tap, electricity supply is non-functional. Furthermore, THENGJANG PS (NEW) lacks a boundary wall, leaving the school vulnerable to external factors. The absence of a playground and a library further limits recreational and learning opportunities for students.

Despite these limitations, THENGJANG PS (NEW) provides a valuable service to the community. The school prioritizes accessibility, offering ramps for disabled children to access classrooms. The school is also committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its students, offering functional toilets for both boys and girls.

While the school does not have computers, its emphasis on accessibility and safety aligns with the broader commitment to providing quality education to all students. The school’s “Others” instruction medium ensures that students receive an inclusive learning experience.

Looking towards the future, THENGJANG PS (NEW) could benefit from addressing its infrastructure gaps. Investing in electricity, a boundary wall, a playground, and a library would not only enhance the learning environment but also empower students with greater opportunities for growth and development.

THENGJANG PS (NEW) is a testament to the dedication of educators in rural areas, providing essential education to young minds despite facing various constraints. As it continues to strive for excellence, it embodies the spirit of educational access and inclusivity, playing a vital role in shaping the future of the community it serves.
