TELENTIKIRA P.S.: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Nestled in the rural landscape of Odisha, TELENTIKIRA P.S. stands as a testament to the dedication to education in the region. Established in 1975, the school offers primary education for students from Class 1 to Class 5, catering to a diverse student population.

The school is managed by the Department of Education and operates from a government-owned building with three classrooms. The primary medium of instruction is Odia, ensuring that students receive their education in a familiar and comfortable language.

TELENTIKIRA P.S. is a co-educational school, with a total of two teachers, one male and one female, dedicated to providing quality education to their students. The school provides a basic learning environment with essential facilities like a library containing 315 books, and separate toilets for boys and girls. However, access to technology is limited, as the school lacks computer-aided learning facilities and electricity.

To ensure the health and well-being of the students, the school provides drinking water through hand pumps. Meals are also provided and prepared within the school premises, ensuring that students have access to nutritious food.

Despite its rural location, TELENTIKIRA P.S. plays a vital role in the local community, offering an opportunity for children to access education. The school’s focus on providing a basic yet functional learning environment, combined with the dedication of its teachers, contributes significantly to the educational development of the region.

However, the school faces challenges, particularly the lack of modern technology and electricity. These factors can hinder the students’ ability to access a wider range of learning resources and experience contemporary teaching methods.

Improving access to technology and infrastructure would greatly enhance the quality of education at TELENTIKIRA P.S., allowing for more engaging learning experiences. This can be achieved through collaboration between the school, local communities, and government authorities.

The school’s dedication to providing basic education to rural children in Odisha, along with its commitment to ensuring their well-being, makes it a valuable asset to the community. With further investment in infrastructure and technology, TELENTIKIRA P.S. has the potential to play an even greater role in fostering a brighter future for its students.
