SUN BEAM LP SCHOOL: A Rural Primary School in Meghalaya

SUN BEAM LP SCHOOL, located in the Shella Bholagunj block of East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya, is a private, co-educational primary school offering education from Class 1 to Class 5. Established in 2006, the school is categorized as “Unrecognised” and serves a rural community.

The school boasts a dedicated staff of three teachers, including one head teacher, Ribalin Khyllep. While the school doesn’t have any male teachers, it employs three female teachers and one pre-primary teacher. Khasi is the primary language of instruction, reflecting the local cultural context.

SUN BEAM LP SCHOOL operates from a private building with six well-maintained classrooms, catering to the educational needs of its students. Although the school lacks a boundary wall, a library, and a playground, it does have separate rooms for non-teaching activities and the head teacher.

Despite the lack of electricity, the school has two functional toilets, one for boys and one for girls. A crucial aspect of ensuring student well-being, however, is the absence of a readily available source of drinking water. The school does not provide midday meals and is not equipped with a computer lab or computers for educational purposes.

The school’s absence of certain facilities highlights the need for improvements to ensure a conducive learning environment. The lack of electricity, a library, and a playground may hinder students’ access to resources and opportunities for recreation. Additionally, the absence of drinking water necessitates immediate attention to provide students with basic necessities.

While SUN BEAM LP SCHOOL plays a vital role in providing primary education to students in a rural area, it is important to acknowledge the challenges it faces. The school’s management can focus on acquiring basic amenities like a library, playground, and a reliable source of drinking water. These additions will help create a more stimulating and nurturing learning environment for the students.

By working towards improving facilities and addressing the challenges, SUN BEAM LP SCHOOL can continue to serve the community effectively and contribute to the educational development of the region.
