SHOKVAO P/S: A Rural Primary School in Manipur

SHOKVAO P/S, a primary school located in the Ukhrul district of Manipur, has been serving the community since 1957. Managed by the Tribal/Social Welfare Department, the school caters to children from the local rural area, offering education from Class 1 to Class 5.

The school emphasizes a co-educational environment, welcoming both boys and girls, and operates as a single-shift institution. Notably, while the school does not offer a pre-primary section, it provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for young students.

A Focus on Learning and Development

SHOKVAO P/S prioritizes a comprehensive learning experience for its students. It boasts five classrooms, each in good condition, and two additional rooms dedicated to non-teaching activities. The school also provides a dedicated room for the headmaster and teachers, ensuring a conducive space for administrative and pedagogical needs.

Although lacking a boundary wall and electrical connection, the school offers a well-functioning drinking water source – a well – for the students and staff. The school’s commitment to hygiene is evident with the presence of one boys’ toilet and one girls’ toilet, both in good condition.

Providing Basic Facilities and Resources

While the school lacks a playground and library, the focus remains on delivering quality education within the available resources. The absence of a computer lab and computers for teaching purposes reflects the school’s current challenges in integrating technology into the learning process.

Despite these limitations, SHOKVAO P/S stands as a beacon of knowledge and development in the community. It serves as a platform for learning, growth, and social development for children in the rural area.

A Committed Educational Institution

The dedication of the school’s staff is evident in the provision of a mid-day meal program. Prepared and provided within the school premises, this initiative ensures that students receive nutritious meals, contributing to their well-being and overall learning experience.

While SHOKVAO P/S faces challenges in accessing resources, the school’s focus remains on providing a basic but quality education to the children entrusted to its care. The school’s commitment to learning, combined with its supportive environment, lays the foundation for a promising future for the students it serves.
