Rasel PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Located in the heart of Odisha, Rasel PS is a government-run primary school serving students from Class 1 to Class 5. The school is situated in a rural area, reflecting the needs of its community. Though built with a “Pucca” (permanent) structure, the building requires some repairs due to broken walls.

While Rasel PS boasts a library with a collection of 70 books, access to essential amenities remains a challenge. The school currently lacks electricity and a playground, highlighting the need for further development. However, it does provide clean drinking water sourced from a well, ensuring students stay hydrated throughout the day.

One of the primary strengths of Rasel PS is its focus on a holistic learning environment. The school provides a meal for its students, cooked and prepared on-site. This initiative ensures that students are well-nourished and ready to learn. Instruction is delivered entirely in Odia, facilitating a strong connection to local language and culture.

With a dedicated team of one male teacher, Rasel PS fosters a nurturing learning environment. Although the school is co-educational, it lacks separate facilities for pre-primary education. Furthermore, Rasel PS operates as a non-residential institution, meaning students commute from their homes each day.

Established in 1988, the school has stood as a beacon of education for the local community. While challenges remain, Rasel PS continues to play a vital role in empowering young minds. The school’s commitment to quality education, despite limited resources, underscores its dedication to its students and their future.

Rasel PS stands as a testament to the importance of rural education in Odisha. The school’s dedication to its students, coupled with its efforts to provide basic amenities and nutritious meals, demonstrates its strong commitment to the community it serves. Despite facing challenges, Rasel PS continues to play a crucial role in shaping young minds and contributing to the educational landscape of Odisha.
