PS SIVNI: A Primary School in Rural Uttar Pradesh

PS SIVNI, located in the KURARA block of HAMIRPUR (U.P.) district in Uttar Pradesh, is a government-run primary school established in 1920. Serving a rural community, the school provides education for students in grades 1 to 5.

A Co-educational Environment with Limited Resources

PS SIVNI is a co-educational school, meaning it welcomes both boys and girls. While it does not have a pre-primary section, the school offers instruction in Hindi. With a total of two teachers, the school is staffed by two female teachers.

Despite its establishment over a century ago, the school faces challenges in terms of resources. While it boasts a Pucca building with four classrooms, the walls are broken. The school has a library with 300 books, a playground, and functional boys and girls toilets. However, it lacks a functional electrical connection and relies on None as its primary source of drinking water.

Accessibility and Infrastructure

PS SIVNI is accessible via an all-weather road, ensuring students can attend classes regardless of the weather. The school has a separate room for the Head Teacher, SNGEETA GUPTA. However, it does not have computers or a computer-aided learning lab.

Focus on Basic Education and Mid-Day Meals

The school focuses on providing basic primary education to the local children. Notably, it provides meals that are prepared and served within the school premises, ensuring students have a nutritious meal while they learn.

Challenges and Opportunities

PS SIVNI, like many rural schools in India, faces challenges related to infrastructure and resources. The lack of electricity and adequate drinking water facilities poses significant hurdles to providing a conducive learning environment. However, the school’s commitment to education, evident in its dedicated teachers and mid-day meal program, serves as a testament to the importance of education in this rural community.

Looking Ahead

The school’s commitment to its students and the community underscores the crucial role it plays in empowering the next generation. While resources may be limited, PS SIVNI continues to provide access to basic education, creating a foundation for the future of the children it serves.
