Mulda PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Mulda PS, located in the heart of Odisha’s rural landscape, is a government-run primary school, offering education from Class 1 to Class 5. Established in 1958, the school plays a vital role in providing basic education to children in the surrounding village.

The school building, though constructed with sturdy “Pucca” materials, requires some repairs. However, the school boasts a library stocked with 85 books, catering to the thirst for knowledge amongst the young students. The lack of a playground limits the school’s physical activity opportunities, but the presence of ramps for disabled students ensures inclusivity.

Mulda PS operates on a co-educational system, fostering an environment of equal learning opportunities for both boys and girls. The school has two classrooms equipped with essential amenities like toilets, both for boys and girls. While the school lacks access to electricity and computer-aided learning facilities, its strong commitment to education is evident through the dedicated teaching staff.

Mulda PS employs two teachers - one male and one female - ensuring a balanced and supportive learning environment for the students. Instruction is delivered in Odia, allowing children to easily understand and engage with the curriculum. Despite the lack of pre-primary sections, the school strives to nurture young minds and equip them with essential knowledge.

The school actively provides meals for its students, ensuring they are nourished and ready to learn. The school’s commitment to student welfare extends beyond academics, prioritizing their physical and mental well-being.

With its dedication to offering quality education in a rural setting, Mulda PS serves as a beacon of hope for the local community. It fosters a love for learning and empowers the future generation with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

Although the school lacks modern amenities like computer labs and electricity, its dedication to traditional teaching methods and its focus on nurturing a love for reading through the library make it a vital educational resource for the village.

Mulda PS, despite its challenges, is a testament to the resilience and spirit of rural education in India. It demonstrates that even with limited resources, a commitment to quality education can empower children and shape their futures.
