MPPS VELAGATHODU NEW COL: A Rural Primary School in Andhra Pradesh

MPPS VELAGATHODU NEW COL, located in the rural area of MANDAPETA block in EAST GODAVARI district of ANDHRA PRADESH, is a primary school offering education to children from Class 1 to Class 5. Established in 1938, the school is managed by the local body and caters to both boys and girls, making it a co-educational institution.

While the school does not have a pre-primary section, it provides instruction in Telugu. The school is easily accessible by all-weather roads, ensuring students can reach their classrooms regardless of weather conditions. The academic session commences in April.

Despite its rural location, the school faces several infrastructural challenges. It lacks a proper school building and has no classrooms designated for instructional purposes. However, there are two additional rooms dedicated to non-teaching activities. The school also lacks electricity, making it difficult to utilize modern teaching tools.

Water is a significant concern, with the school relying on a non-functional “None” source for drinking water. This presents a serious challenge to the health and well-being of students and staff.

Further compounding these issues, the school lacks adequate sanitation facilities. There are no functional toilets for either boys or girls. The absence of a playground also limits opportunities for physical activity and recreation for the students.

The school’s academic resources are equally limited. It does not have a library and possesses no books. Additionally, there are no computers available for teaching or learning purposes, and the school lacks a computer-aided learning lab.

Despite these challenges, MPPS VELAGATHODU NEW COL boasts a dedicated team of educators, with a total of two teachers – one male and one female. The lack of a dedicated head teacher poses a challenge to effective school management.

While the school faces significant infrastructural and resource constraints, it plays a vital role in providing primary education to children in the rural community. The school’s future hinges on addressing these challenges to create a conducive learning environment that equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge for a brighter future.
