MARIBUNG P/S: A Rural Primary School in Manipur

MARIBUNG P/S, located in the CHANDEL district of Manipur, is a government-run primary school established in 1955. This rural school serves students from Grades 1 to 5, offering a co-educational environment. The school is managed by the Tribal/Social Welfare Department and provides education in the “Others” medium of instruction.

MARIBUNG P/S has a total of 6 teachers, including 3 male and 3 female teachers, along with a Head Teacher named KT. ABLE. The school provides mid-day meals prepared within the school premises, ensuring that students have access to nutritious food.

Infrastructure and Resources:

The school boasts a government building with 5 well-maintained classrooms. The school also has 2 additional rooms for non-teaching activities and a separate room for the Head Teacher. However, the school lacks a boundary wall and access to electricity.

While the school has a playground for recreation, it does not have a library or computer-aided learning facilities. The lack of computers and a library presents a challenge for students seeking additional resources and digital learning experiences.

Accessibility and Support:

Although the school does not have computers, it has ramps for disabled children, facilitating access to classrooms. The school also boasts separate boys and girls toilets, ensuring basic sanitation needs are met.

The school has a drinking water facility, though it is currently not operational. This emphasizes the need for a functional water source to ensure the health and hygiene of students and staff.

Looking Ahead:

While MARIBUNG P/S provides basic education to students in the rural community, there are opportunities for improvement. The school’s lack of electricity, a library, and computers poses a barrier to modern learning and information access. Investing in these resources can greatly enhance the educational experience for the students.

The school’s commitment to providing mid-day meals and accessible facilities for disabled children is commendable. However, ensuring a consistent supply of clean drinking water and further developing educational resources are crucial for the future development of MARIBUNG P/S and its students.
