KUMUDI SASAN PROJECT PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Nestled in the rural landscape of SUKINDA block in JAJPUR district of Odisha, KUMUDI SASAN PROJECT PS is a government-run primary school established in 2008. This co-educational institution caters to students from Grades 1 to 4, providing them with a foundational education in Odia. While the school doesn’t have a pre-primary section, it offers a welcoming environment for young learners.

The school’s infrastructure consists of two classrooms in good condition, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students. There are also two additional rooms dedicated to non-teaching activities, as well as a separate room for the head teacher. While the school is located on an all-weather road, it lacks a boundary wall and an electricity connection.

To ensure the health and well-being of students, the school provides a midday meal, prepared on-site. The school also boasts a functional boys’ and girls’ toilet, further contributing to a safe and hygienic learning environment. However, the lack of a playground and a library limits recreational and learning opportunities for students.

Despite the lack of a library, the school does not have any books. This highlights the need for additional resources to support student learning and foster a love for reading. Furthermore, while ramps are available for disabled children to access classrooms, the school lacks computers for teaching and learning. This underscores the need for technology integration to enhance educational opportunities.

The school is managed by the Department of Education, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing basic education to children in rural communities. However, the absence of a computer-aided learning lab and limited resources for library facilities indicates the need for further investment and support.

The school’s dedication to providing a safe and functional learning environment for students, despite the lack of some resources, is commendable. As the school continues to serve its community, it would benefit from further investment to enhance its infrastructure and resources, ensuring a more holistic and enriching educational experience for its students.
