KASATI P.S.: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Located in the village of KASATI, KASATI P.S. is a government-run primary school in Odisha. Established in 1955, the school caters to students from Class 1 to Class 5, offering a comprehensive education in the Odia language. With a strong emphasis on basic literacy and numeracy, KASATI P.S. plays a vital role in the community, providing access to education for children in a rural setting.

The school boasts four classrooms, equipped with basic amenities like electricity and drinking water from hand pumps. However, it lacks a boundary wall and playground. Despite these limitations, the school offers a library with 182 books, providing students with opportunities to explore their interests beyond the classroom.

KASATI P.S. is a co-educational institution, serving both boys and girls. The school has a dedicated staff of two teachers, including one head teacher - BABAJI CHARAN SETHI. Both male and female teachers are committed to providing a quality education to their students.

The school is managed by the Department of Education and follows the Odia language as the medium of instruction. Interestingly, while the school provides meals for students, these meals are not prepared on the school premises. This highlights the school’s reliance on community resources and the local ecosystem for its daily operations.

Though KASATI P.S. is a primary school, it is affiliated with the “Others” board for Class 10, suggesting a potential for students to pursue higher education in neighboring schools. The school’s focus on basic education empowers students to learn and progress, paving the way for their future aspirations.

While lacking a pre-primary section and a dedicated computer-aided learning program, the school does have two computers for student use. This limited technology access serves as a reminder of the need for continued development and investment in educational resources within rural areas.

Furthermore, the school’s location in a rural area underscores the importance of addressing educational disparities and ensuring equal access to quality education for all children. KASATI P.S., despite its modest infrastructure, remains a beacon of hope, providing a foundation for a brighter future for the children of the KASATI village.
