HALADIGUDA UPS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Nestled in the rural landscape of Odisha, HALADIGUDA UPS is a government-run primary school offering education to children from Class 1 to Class 7. Established in 1974, the school boasts a library stocked with 1192 books, catering to the learning needs of its students.

The school operates under the Department of Education and provides instruction in Odia, the primary language of the region. With three dedicated male teachers, HALADIGUDA UPS fosters a co-educational environment, promoting equal opportunities for all students.

The school’s infrastructure includes two classrooms, a well for drinking water, and separate toilets for boys and girls. However, it lacks essential amenities like computer-aided learning facilities, electricity, and a boundary wall. The absence of a playground may pose a challenge to students’ physical activities.

While the school provides meals prepared on its premises, it does not offer pre-primary education. It also lacks ramps for disabled students, highlighting the need for accessibility improvements.

Despite these limitations, HALADIGUDA UPS plays a crucial role in providing basic education to the children of the surrounding villages. The presence of a library, albeit without computer facilities, underscores the school’s commitment to fostering reading habits and nurturing a love for learning among its students.

The school’s management, under the Department of Education, aims to provide quality education to its students within its resource constraints. The dedication of the three teachers, led by Head Teacher HARINATH NAIK, ensures that students receive the necessary guidance and support to progress academically.

The school’s future hinges on addressing its infrastructure gaps, particularly in providing access to electricity and computer-aided learning. Improving accessibility by introducing ramps for disabled students is also crucial for promoting inclusivity.

HALADIGUDA UPS, with its emphasis on Odia instruction and its commitment to providing basic education, stands as a vital resource for the rural community. By overcoming its current challenges, the school has the potential to empower its students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life.
