GUMUGARH P.S.: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Nestled in the rural landscape of Odisha, GUMUGARH P.S. stands as a beacon of education for young minds. Established in 1982, this government-run primary school caters to students from Class 1 to Class 5, offering a co-educational environment. Instruction is delivered in Odia, the primary language of the region.

The school, classified as a “Primary only (1-5)” institution, boasts a dedicated team of three teachers: one male, two female, and one head teacher, SMT ARATI PRUSTY. These educators ensure a nurturing environment for students to learn and grow.

Despite its rural location, GUMUGARH P.S. is equipped with basic facilities, including a library stocked with 247 books, a well-maintained drinking water source through hand pumps, and ramps for accessibility for disabled students. Although the school has four classrooms, it lacks a boundary wall.

The school operates on a “Department of Education” management structure. While electricity is available, it is not currently functional. Notably, the school offers a meal program, prepared and served on school premises, ensuring that students have access to proper nourishment during the day.

One of the notable aspects of GUMUGARH P.S. is the presence of a library. This resource provides students with access to a diverse collection of books, fostering a love for reading and knowledge exploration. The library serves as a valuable tool for supplementing classroom learning and enhancing students’ literacy skills.

The school’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment is further emphasized by its provision of ramps for disabled students. This infrastructure ensures that all students, regardless of their abilities, have equal access to education and participation in school activities.

Though the school faces challenges, such as the lack of a functional electrical system and a boundary wall, the dedicated staff and the availability of basic resources, including the library and drinking water facilities, make it a valuable institution for the surrounding community. GUMUGARH P.S. continues to play a vital role in nurturing young minds and shaping the future of the rural region.
