ERAKUSUMI PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

ERAKUSUMI PS, located in the state of Odisha, is a government-run primary school serving the rural community. Established in 2008, the school caters to students from Class 1 to Class 5, offering a co-educational environment.

The school’s academic focus is primarily on Odia as the medium of instruction. With a dedicated team of one male teacher, the school strives to provide quality education within its limited resources. Notably, the school does not offer pre-primary education or have computer-aided learning facilities.

Despite the lack of modern amenities, ERAKUSUMI PS prioritizes the students’ well-being. The school provides meals prepared within its premises, ensuring that the students receive proper nutrition alongside their education. However, the school’s infrastructure faces challenges, with no boundary walls, library, playground, drinking water facilities, or ramps for disabled individuals.

The absence of basic amenities like electricity and a proper boundary wall might pose challenges to the school’s operations and student safety. The school’s lack of a library and playground limits the students’ access to supplementary learning resources and recreational activities.

The absence of a playground also deprives students of opportunities for physical activity and healthy development. Additionally, the lack of ramps for disabled individuals may hinder access to the school for students with special needs.

Despite these limitations, ERAKUSUMI PS plays a crucial role in providing basic education to the children in the rural community. The school’s dedicated teacher and the provision of meals showcase a commitment to the students’ well-being.

However, the school’s infrastructure requires significant improvements. Investments in essential amenities like electricity, boundary walls, libraries, playgrounds, and ramps for disabled individuals are crucial for creating a safe and conducive learning environment.

Furthermore, exploring opportunities for computer-aided learning and access to online resources would benefit the students’ education and equip them with valuable skills for the 21st century.

By addressing the infrastructure challenges and exploring opportunities for educational enrichment, ERAKUSUMI PS can enhance its role as a vital hub for learning and development in the rural community.
