EKTALI UGUPS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

EKTALI UGUPS, a government-run school located in Odisha, is a co-educational institution offering primary and upper primary education for students from Class 1 to Class 8. Established in 1979, the school is situated in a rural area and caters to the educational needs of the local community.

The school boasts four classrooms, with separate toilets for boys and girls. While electricity is available, it is not functional, posing a challenge for the school’s operations. The building itself is partially walled, indicating ongoing construction efforts. However, the school does have a library stocked with 360 books, providing valuable resources for students. The lack of a playground is a notable absence, as it limits recreational opportunities for the children.

Despite the absence of a playground, the school offers a comprehensive curriculum taught in Odia. The school boasts a dedicated team of four teachers, comprising two male and two female educators, led by Head Teacher PABITRA MOHAN SETHI. The school’s management is overseen by the Department of Education.

While the school does not offer pre-primary education or residential facilities, it provides a vital educational service to the community. The absence of drinking water and ramps for disabled students are areas where the school could benefit from improvement.

A significant aspect of the school’s operations is the provision of meals, prepared and served on-site. This ensures students have access to nutritious food, enhancing their learning experience and overall well-being. EKTALI UGUPS is affiliated with the “Others” board for both Class 10th and Class 10+2, providing students with a pathway for further education beyond primary levels.

EKTALI UGUPS serves as a vital pillar of the community, providing educational opportunities to the children of the surrounding area. The school’s commitment to providing meals and a library, alongside its dedicated teaching staff, contributes to a strong foundation for students’ learning and development. While challenges remain, particularly concerning infrastructure and accessibility, the school’s commitment to providing quality education to its students is evident.
