DONGRA PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

Located in the village of DONGRA, the DONGRA PS is a primary school serving the educational needs of children in the surrounding rural area. Established in 1953, this government-run school boasts a library, a playground, and ramps for students with disabilities.

The school’s primary focus is on providing quality education to students from Class 1 to Class 5, with a curriculum taught entirely in Odia. The school’s commitment to accessible learning is further evident in the presence of separate toilets for boys and girls, ensuring equal opportunity and inclusivity.

The DONGRA PS is managed by the Department of Education and boasts a team of four dedicated teachers, including two male and two female teachers. The school is led by Head Teacher SANDIP SEAL, ensuring a strong leadership presence within the institution.

The school is recognized as a co-educational institution, providing equal learning opportunities for boys and girls. While pre-primary sections are not available at the school, students can benefit from a library stocked with 217 books, fostering a love for reading and knowledge.

However, the school faces several challenges. The lack of electricity and computer-aided learning facilities limits access to modern educational resources. Additionally, the absence of a boundary wall raises concerns about the school’s security and safety. Furthermore, the school’s reliance on other boards for Class 10 and 10+2 education indicates a lack of facilities for higher secondary education within the school.

Despite these challenges, the DONGRA PS provides a valuable service to the rural community. The school’s commitment to education, its dedication to inclusivity, and its well-maintained infrastructure, including ramps for disabled students and separate toilets for boys and girls, create a safe and accessible learning environment for the children. The school’s focus on providing meals prepared on-site further demonstrates its commitment to student well-being and ensuring that students have access to nutritious meals.

The DONGRA PS serves as a vital pillar for the local community, ensuring that children in the rural area have access to quality education and are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the future. Its continued operation and expansion would ensure the continued success of the school and the educational well-being of the surrounding community.
