DEORLI PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

DEORLI PS, a primary school located in the rural heart of Odisha, stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to education. Established in 1991, the school is managed by the Department of Education and caters to students from Grades 1 to 5. With its co-educational environment, DEORLI PS provides a nurturing environment for young minds to learn and grow.

The school building, constructed by the government, boasts two well-maintained classrooms. These classrooms are equipped to facilitate a conducive learning environment for students. The school also features two additional rooms for non-teaching activities, ensuring a diverse range of experiences for the students. While the school lacks a boundary wall and electricity connection, it has a functional playground, offering space for students to engage in physical activities and socialize.

DEORLI PS prioritizes the health and well-being of its students. The school provides access to clean drinking water through functional hand pumps. Sanitation is also a priority, with one functional boys’ toilet and one functional girls’ toilet available for students.

The school’s curriculum focuses on delivering quality education in the Odia language. A team of three dedicated teachers, including two male and one female teacher, guide the students through their learning journey. The school also provides mid-day meals, ensuring that students are nourished and ready to learn.

Despite the lack of a library or computers, the school strives to offer a holistic learning experience. The absence of a computer lab and limited resources necessitates creative teaching methods and a focus on traditional learning practices. The school’s location, accessible by all-weather roads, provides students with connectivity to the wider community.

While the school faces certain challenges, like the absence of electricity and a library, it continues to play a vital role in educating the children of the village. DEORLI PS serves as a beacon of hope, providing a foundation for academic and personal development for the next generation. The school’s commitment to providing quality education, even with limited resources, is a testament to the dedication of the teachers and the community.
