BARUDIHI PS: A Rural Primary School in Odisha

BARUDIHI PS is a government-run primary school located in the village of Barudihi, within the subdistrict of 992, district 40, and state 2 in India. The school, established in 1993, serves the local community by providing education for children in classes 1 to 5.

The school boasts a well-stocked library with 49 books, a vital resource for expanding the students’ knowledge and encouraging a love for reading. It also offers a safe and hygienic environment, with hand pumps for drinking water and ramps for accessibility for students with disabilities. The school is a co-educational institution, with a total of 2 teachers - 1 male and 1 female.

The school’s curriculum focuses on providing instruction in Odia, the primary language of the region. Interestingly, the school’s academic structure provides a unique approach to education. While the core curriculum focuses on primary education from classes 1 to 5, the school’s board for Class 10 falls under the “Others” category, suggesting a flexible academic structure tailored to the local community’s needs.

Despite lacking a boundary wall, electricity, and a playground, the school provides essential resources for its students. However, the absence of computer-aided learning and a lack of pre-primary section availability suggest areas for potential improvement.

While the school does not offer a meal program, it emphasizes the importance of safety and accessibility. The presence of ramps for disabled students showcases the school’s commitment to inclusivity.

BARUDIHI PS serves as a cornerstone of education in the rural community of Barudihi.
